The mission of the Italian entrepreneurs in South Africa has just concluded. The mission has been organized by ICE, Confindustria and by the Italian Bank Association, in the occasion of the visit of the State Minister for the Foreign Policies Massimo D' Alema.

Corart has joined the mission and has been represented by the President Gabriella Centomo, who has introduced the structure of the Consortium and the product offered by the associates and has invited the interlocutors to visit the Corart site and sites of Corart’s associates.

The presence in place has allowed us to pick some information regarding the operators met and regarding the structure of the market. The local market is characterized by the request of goldsmith items in 9 carats. There is also an increasing demand for the productions made in yellow and white 18 carats gold as well as in platinum. The distribution is characterized from small truths that offer themselves as distributors, therefore small operators that want to grow. There are also chains of stores, that need the product but in the mean time need service and credit.

We specify that Italy, according to the information given by ICE, maintains the first place among the supplying countries of the South Africa, with a share of 30.5% on the total imports of jewellery items. The imports of jewellery products in South Africa are subject to a 20% duty.
